ASUU MEMBERS SHOULD CONSIDER FARMING AS AN ALTERNATIVE PROFESSION-FG

The Minister of State for Education told ASUU members to go into farming because more farmers are needed in the country. He also said if they are tired of the teaching profession, they should resign because they have no right to decide to the government on how they should be paid. He further stated that the government can’t introduce IPPIS and ASUU will reject it. We employed them, so they can’t force their demands on us.*

Federal government has stopped the payment of lecturers since August in an attempt to use hunger to intimidate the Striking lecturers. The government stated that they were paying lecturers during the lockdown because schools were closed due to pandemic but they paid them their last salary in July. So if they don’t return to work, no more salary for them. They should get ready to resign.

Meanwhile, ASUU President has lamented that the federal government wants to use hunger to force their members to work but they should know that lecturers can’t resume on empty stomach.

*The battle between federal government and ASUU is now getting tougher, more gists will be coming soon. We hope the lecturers resume by October 12 or face sanction. FG is not ready to scrap IPPIS.
